A Selene crew delivers a new 42 Voyager Sedan

It may be frustrating for yacht builders to see a boat they have built for several months leaving for ever the shipyard without having the opportunity to enjoy sailing it at least for a few hours… Last week, on February 25, 2022, Howard Chen, the CEO of Selene Yachts has decided to change the rules… A team of Selene workers has embarked on a six-hour exhilarating trip from the shipyard’s dock to the neighboring port of Xiyu where a brand new beautiful Selene 42 Voyager Sedan was wrapped in a white protection canvas and loaded on the large freight ship which will deliver the new vessel to her happy owner.

Howard Chen’s logbook

“The crew sailed along the Zhuhai region rivers and the North China Sea in a constantly developing part of the province where large and impressive bridges are being built. It was an exciting experience for the team of engineers and builders to see the powerful John Deere 180 HP engine at work at the cruise speed of 8.5 knots as well as the new JIWU Gyro stabilizer made in China which has kept the boat stable for more than three hours when the crew had to deal with a rather choppy sea at the mouth of the river.”

A safe yacht

“At the owners’ request, this Selene, hull number 4246 is equipped with a very efficient hydraulic get-home engine powered by the Northern Lights generator at an average speed of 4.5 knots. At the helm, our clever carpenter has installed a little cubby-hole for the binoculars, a smart design inspired by Dominic our vice-president on his own Selene Voyager. Having the binoculars always handy was very useful in this part of the Chinese coast where the traffic is so intense because of ferry boats, fishermen vessels, barges and cargo ships! ”

New improvements

“We have designed this new Voyager 42 with many improvements like the hinged companionway for an easier access to the engine room. The rest of the boats is very classic like all our Selene yachts with a warm teak interior and premium appliances and hardware. The boat sports two comfortable cabins and a cozy saloon with a U-shaped leather sofa and a well-appointed galley. Our design team has spent a lot of research and development time on this Selene model in order to reach our target: a real, safe and luxury gentleman’s boat!”

Maiden cruise

“This maiden cruise ended up at dusk without any incidents at the final destination when we moored the boat near the brightly illuminated bridge of Xiyu. This Selene 4246 passed all the tests at sea with flying colors! We are confident that the new owner will enjoy years of happy and safe sailing in the Pacific region…”
