You cannot ignore the call of nature when you reach this dreamy destination. Many Selene owners have sailed to Alaska\u2026 It\u2019s one of their favorite sailing grounds! Alaska explodes with beauty, high mountains, blue rivers and streams and secluded anchorages are everywhere. It is wild, with less than one person per square mile, but people also call the state home\u2026<\/p>\n

A Selene 60 trawler in Alaska, 500 miles north of Seattle<\/h4>\n

Alaska\u00a0is one of two\u00a0U.S. states\u00a0not bordered by another state;\u00a0Hawaii\u00a0being the other. Alaska has more\u00a0ocean coastline\u00a0than all of the other U.S. states combined. About 500 miles (800\u00a0km) of\u00a0Canadian\u00a0territory separate Alaska from\u00a0Washington State. To reach Alaska on a yacht from Seattle for instance you first have to cross from south to north the Canadian province of British Columbia along 600 nautical miles of deep channels, and between thousands of islands. Anchorage, Juneau, Ketchikan, Unalaska\/Port of Dutch Harbor qualify as entry ports for non US-flagged yachts entering Alaskan waters.<\/p>\n

The best season for weather and temperature is from late-spring through early-fall, but it extends a bit later in the year, and fuel is usually available in even the most remote harbors.<\/p>\n
