For several years Howard Chen has worked with Guido de Groot, the famous Dutch designer to create new yachts, which have all the qualities of a Selene classic ocean yacht but with softer lines and a different interior decoration that attract European owners.

With a LOA of 68’-10’’ (20,98m), a displacement of 143,000 Lbs and equipped with two engines (a single engine version is also available), the Selene 64 Ocean Explorer carries 2,400 US Gal of fuel for long range voyages at a cruising speed of 9 knots, with a top speed of 11 knots.

This new yacht shows a number of the Selene family traits with her powerful raised pilothouse, Portuguese bridge, wide upper deck, and side-deck walk-arounds which provide safety and convenience for passengers of all ages ( wide-body or semi-wide-body is optional.) But a new approach is also visible in the addition of the large side windows in the hull and the curvy and sleek lines of the flying bridge.

James Fwu of JFNA, a renown naval architect of Taiwan joined this international team for the hull lines, hydrostatics data, structural design, stability calculations, dynamics performance and final “EU Type Examination Certificate” with RINA.

With a LOA of 75’-9”, a displacement of 158,688 Lbs ( 72 Tons ) and equipped with two Cummins QSL9 405 BHP engines (a single engine version is also available), the Selene 72 carries more than 3,000 USG ( 11 355 Liters ) of fuel for long range voyages at a cruising speed of 9 knots, with a top speed of 11.5 knots.

What is catching eyes is the elegant combination of modern styling and the line of a reassuring ocean going vessel. The Selene 56’s next generation hull gives us three main advantages over the predecessor. The first and foremost change of the next generation is the Deep Hull™. The engine is now lower giving better stability and a lower shaft angle. The lowered shaft angle results in even better efficiency. The fuel tanks have increased in size to as much as 1,400 gallons for a longer range. The secondary advantages of the deep hull give the Selene 56 much more space in the engine room, commissary, and the lazarette. The increased space allows for full stand-up access in the engine room for easier maintenance as well as more storage. The increased size of the commissary allows much more storage.

Since its introduction in 2002, the Selene 54, an evolution of the famous Selene 53, has risen to be the most popular model in the Selene range. It’s easy to see why, with a powerful combination of live-aboard comfort and excellent long range cruising in safety for a couple and their guests. With no less than eight different living areas to choose from, including three staterooms (two with ensuite bathrooms), a galley that’s integrated with the salon, and a spacious flybridge that’ll be the envy of everyone on the dock, the Selene 54 is a comfortable home afloat. Yet it can still be handled easily and safely by a couple, thanks to the secure walk around decks and Portuguese bridge, two steering stations, and bow and (optional) stern thruster.

The Selene 50 Voyager Sedan is a larger sibling of the 42 Voyager Sedan model, with a larger super structure and the same European flair. The yacht has a beautiful teak or optional cherry interior, and a well-equipped sea-going U-shaped galley to port. Compared with the Selene 42 Voyager Sedan, it offers one more cabin and head, a more spacious saloon and more storage. For many people, the large flybridge will be the highlight of this yacht with its optional hardtop. The original design of the owner’s cabin located forward with a walk around berth athwartships leaves more space for nightstands and large wardrobe lockers. The Selene 50 Voyager Sedan epitomizes gracious styling and transports her passengers with the uppermost in comfort and performance…

The Selene 49 is the next generation evolution of the very popular Selene 47. It features the Deep-Hull™ design and Cruiser Stern™ which improves headroom in the engine room and lazarette and makes the hull even more efficient than its predecessor. The Selene 49 has a very traditional « salty » look from the outside. Another significant difference is a wider flybridge giving space for entertaining friends and family with style in the open air, with ample room on the aft deck for a dinghy and hydraulic crane. The flybridge layout with a canvas cover or a hard-top includes an L-shaped settee and table and a bar with sink and BBQ. The hull itself is deeper than the Selene 47 and is meant to carve through the water. The longer LOA of the Selene 49 translates to an 8” increase in the cockpit and 4” more in the salon. The living space is large and spacious for the long cruising days. The salon is luxuriously finished in teak. Past the L-shaped dinette for four to port, the U-shaped galley forward has granite countertops and modern appliances, including a full-size refrigerator with freezer. The two or three-stateroom accommodations down below are spacious, due to the full hull sections forward. The master stateroom has a queen-size island berth with teak and holly steps on both sides, plus two large cedar-lined hanging lockers.
