The Selene 92 Ocean Explorer is the result of an international collaboration of designers and architects under Howard Chen’s design team leadership.Working closely with renowned Dutch architect Guido De Groot and a group of international consultants a contemporary long range yacht was built which capitalizes on builder Jet Tern Marine’s quality construction and reputation for experience and innovation. A first look at the 92 shows a number of the Selene family traits with her powerful raised pilothouse, Portuguese bridge, and bulbous bow. A contemporary twist is also apparent with the addition of the large side windows in the hull and the stainless anchor pockets.

SUPER YACHT CLASS

She is sure to appeal to existing Selene owners and big boat enthusiasts alike and takes the simple and proven concept of a fuel efficient and seaworthy long-range yacht to a new level of luxury that is intended to compete directly with the finest European shipyards, but with all of the advantages of FRP. Equipped with twin 475HP engines from MTU’s 60 series, the Selene 92 carries more than 6,000 gallons (23000 liters) of fuel giving enough range to reach the Marquesas from the West coast of the United States. What is catching eyes is the unusual combination of modern styling and the capabilities of an ocean cruiser.The Selene 92 Ocean Explorer has four staterooms, three guest cabins and a full-beam owner’s cabin, a laundry room and a crew’s quarters with two cabins and a mess area. In November 2017, the Selene 92 Ocean Explorer was listed by Southern Boating as one of the «Top Ten Long Range Cruisers».

The Selene 60 is a completely new design from an entirely new mold with the Selene Deep Hull™ structure resulting in a raised sheer and a significantly higher deck which generates increased headroom in the cabins and the engine room. The Selene 60 is a perfect transitional yacht between the successful Selene 53/54 and Selene 62/66 series. She features a full-height engine room, a separate crew’s quarters aft with a transom door. An expansive and functional flybridge layout incorporates a 10-person U-shaped sofa with a built-in BBQ, sink and refrigerator. One of the unique selling points of the Selene 60 is its full-height commissary, or utility room, that is placed between the owner’s cabin and the engine room for storage, freezer, washer/dryer and access to the electrical compartment.

Le nouveau Selene 59 Ocean Clipper est la dernière création de Howard Chen, un yacht conçu pour un client européen déjà propriétaire d’un Selene qui désirait pour naviguer en Méditerranée, un bateau aussi élégant et fiable que tous les autres Selene, mais plus rapide, sans pour autant sacrifier les qualités marines des trawlers trans-océaniques de la marque.

L’équipe de Howard Chen a relevé le défi, en collaboration avec l’architecte hollandais Guido de Groot. Ainsi est né le Selene 59 Ocean Clipper équipé d’une double motorisation. Le premier de la série a été lancé en novembre 2017 sur la rivière des Perles en Chine et a atteint la vitesse attendue de 19 nœuds.

Avec trois cabines luxueuses, un grand salon et une timonerie lumineuse qui offre une position de pilotage exceptionnelle, un cockpit immense taillé pour la pêche et un magnifique flybridge destiné au farniente, le Selene 59 Ocean Clipper fait une fois de plus la preuve de tout le savoir faire des artisans et des ingénieurs du chantier Selene.

DANS LA VOIE RAPIDE…

Avec une ébénisterie soigneusement assemblées et une sellerie en cuir crème surpiquée, l’ambiance intérieure est chaleureuse et accueillante. On a la sensation d’être à bord d’un super yacht compact avec des vernis lisses comme des miroirs et tout un accastillage intérieur en acier poli élégant. La timonerie est un rêve de capitaine avec un tableau de bord assez grand pour toute une série d’écrans de navigation. Le salon de pont surélevé derrière le siège du capitaine est un poste d’observation confortable pour les passagers et dissimule une large couchette de quart située un peu en hauteur.

Au delà du salon et de la timonerie, il y a pour les passagers de nombreuses autres possibilités pour profiter de la croisière avec deux chaises-longues sur le pont avant et un grand salon sur le flybridge accessible depuis la timonerie. Le flybridge est protégé par un hard-top dont la partie centrale est coulissante. Du côté technique, la salle des machines a aussi de quoi séduire un capitaine ou un mécanicien avec une descente pratique et sécurisée abritée dans un meuble du cockpit et des systèmes bien disposés pour une maintenance facile. Avec une isolation acoustique particulièrement élaborée, les deux moteurs Cummins se font discrets. A la devise de Selene “Grâce et Puissance”, Howard Chen a ajouté la magie de la vitesse…

UNE COQUE TRES PERFORMANTE

The Selene 49 is the next generation evolution of the very popular Selene 47. It features the Deep-Hull™ design and Cruiser Stern™ which improves headroom in the engine room and lazarette and makes the hull even more efficient than its predecessor. The Selene 49 has a very traditional « salty » look from the outside. Another significant difference is a wider flybridge giving space for entertaining friends and family with style in the open air, with ample room on the aft deck for a dinghy and hydraulic crane. The flybridge layout with a canvas cover or a hard-top includes an L-shaped settee and table and a bar with sink and BBQ. The hull itself is deeper than the Selene 47 and is meant to carve through the water. The longer LOA of the Selene 49 translates to an 8” increase in the cockpit and 4” more in the salon. The living space is large and spacious for the long cruising days. The salon is luxuriously finished in teak. Past the L-shaped dinette for four to port, the U-shaped galley forward has granite countertops and modern appliances, including a full-size refrigerator with freezer. The two or three-stateroom accommodations down below are spacious, due to the full hull sections forward. The master stateroom has a queen-size island berth with teak and holly steps on both sides, plus two large cedar-lined hanging lockers.

2,000 MN D’AUTONOMIE

Headroom for the engine room has increased by a whole foot and the larger Cummins QSL 9.0 330 horsepower engine is standard. The Selene 49 is an excellent long range cruising boat with a D/L ratio at full load of 316, and A/B ratio at full load of 2.54. At 1,800 rpm, the Selene 49 has a cruising speed of 8.5 knots for a range of 2,000 nautical miles. The 49 also boasts an integral swim platform with a telescopic swim ladder, and beneath the 18″ hull extension Cruiser Stern™ there is extra room in the lazarette for storing gear and supplies, and at the same time greater buoyancy to offset the weight of the larger flybridge. As the flagship of the smaller Selenes, the Selene 49 boasts a level of luxury normally only found on its larger sisters in the range, but all in an affordable package that’s easy to handle as a couple.
