A gentleman’s boat

Herreshoff’s interior

What could be more important than the interior decoration of a yacht to enjoy a comfortable navigation? The layout of the staterooms as well as the design of the interior living space of a yacht is essential. Built to sail for days and weeks on the seas and oceans of the world, the Selene yachts compete in ingenuity to provide a space on board that is both comfortable and elegant. And the new Selene 42 Voyager Sedan raises the bar even higher with an inimitable Herreshoff interior. With beautiful woodwork, details and high-end equipment inherited from a tradition of classic and vintage boats, the new Selene 42 Voyager has been designed to appeal to the most demanding owners and captains.

Interior fittings for an exceptional yacht

The Herreshoff style was designed by a man: Nathanael Greene Herreshoff. Born in the 19th century in the United States, the naval architect and mechanical engineer graduated from Harvard and MIT and decided to embark on the design of innovative yachts. This naval genius sculpted, at the time, impressive 40-meter sailboats capable of withstanding the vagaries of navigation. An accomplished sailor, 6-time America’s Cup winner, and recognized as an innovative designer, he has since left a solid legacy through the realization of interiors of exceptional yachts where tradition is at the service of luxury, and of course, timeless class. One must not be surprised to know that Nathanael Greene Herreshoff’s work can be seen in a museum in Bristol in the United States…

What is the Herreshoff style?

The Herreshoff style is recognized by the associations of high-quality materials and equipment. Each element is chosen meticulously for its aesthetic and functional qualities. Rare wood, leather and polished steel elements combine to create harmony and elegance.

A natural evolution of the now-famous Selene 42, the Selene 42 Voyager Sedan is part of the lineage of the Selene yachts. With a comfortable covered cockpit and a spacious flybridge, the Selene 42 Voyager has been created for sailors who love to travel and dream of covering long distances. Its behavior on the high seas is optimal to ensure long cruises. But that’s not all! To ensure the comfort of passengers and the captain during navigation, the Selene 42 Voyager sedan adopts the interior Herreshoff style that is so sought after by lovers of cozy classic yachts. Staterooms, saloon, galley, helm, head: the woodwork is everywhere for an exceptional chic effect. The omnipresent essence of red mahogany wood also brings a rare elegance to the entire interior, which becomes a warm space where life is good while sailing or during evenings at anchor. The spacious saloon accommodates a L-shaped settee with a Chesterfield burgundy red leather upholstery that blends perfectly with the essence of precious wood.

A practical and elegant interior layout

At the center of the layout, the kitchen equipped with a marine stove with oven, a large fridge, a microwave, and even a dishwasher, also adopts the traditional style with classic faucets that stands out from the usual mixers. The bathroom also sports a traditional design around the electric toilet and a discreet and elegant basin rounded in the corner, with the latter and the separate shower stall equipped with stainless steel Italian faucet and mixer. Another remarkable detail of the interior of the Selene 42 Voyager are the interior light fittings which, through their period shape, recall an incomparable Victorian chic spirit. Ceiling, wall or suspension, the light fixtures complete the interior decoration of this high-end gentleman yacht without overdoing it.

Behind a molded wooden door with a custom-made engraved handle finally hides the intimate and comfortable side of the beds. The owner’s cabin space forward with a V-berth or king-size bed and the starboard guest cabin with two single beds also benefit from the unique Herreshoff-style atmosphere. With practical storage spaces naturally integrated into the wooden structure of the boat for a tuxedo, an evening dress and stilettos, the master stateroom is in keeping with the purest tradition of yesteryear boats.

Our talented interior design team can also deliver the 42 Voyager Sedan with linen beddings and fluffy towels embroidered with the yacht’s name. The galley lockers can also be filled on request with designer’s china, engraved glasses, cutlery, kitchen tools, pots and pans… Just add food and wine in the fridge, and set sail…
