Selene 6050 Classic Explorer: A Timeless Classic Ready for Launch

At the brand-new shipyard dock, the Selene 6050—a timeless classic motor yacht—rests gracefully as it completes final pre-delivery preparations. Blending traditional elegance with modern marine technology, this vessel marks another milestone for Selene Yachts.

The owner couple has visited the shipyard multiple times throughout the build. Each visit left them amazed by the craftsmanship and progress, expressing consistent delight with how their dream yacht has taken shape. Mrs. Elisabeth, the owner, joined the Grand Opening ceremony and the China Tour, exploring historic cities including Beijing and Xi’an. Alongside securing her ideal yacht, she cherished a memorable and joyful journey across China, making the entire experience truly unforgettable.

The Selene 6050 features exquisite teak interior and a thoughtful three-cabin layout designed for comfort and privacy. The owner’s stateroom is equipped with a private bathtub, fulfilling the owner’s personal requests and adding a touch of luxury to life on board. For reliable performance and smooth cruising, the yacht is powered by Single John Deere 6135AFM85 425hp@1900RPM, M2 and fitted with Keypower get home system, Sidepower hydraulic bow and stern thruster, Northern Light generator, CMC electric stabilizers, ensuring stability and efficiency in various sea conditions.

Meanwhile, Nico, engineer from New Zealand, is on-site commissioning the monitoring and navigation systems. His work enables smart remote operation via mobile devices, allowing the owner to monitor and control key yacht functions remotely—a cutting-edge convenience for modern cruising.

We spoke with Nico about the project and its technical highlights:

Q1: This is your second project with Selene, following the successful delivery of the Selene 6420. What are the advantages of completing system commissioning at the shipyard, compared to doing so overseas?

A1: I believe it is a lot more efficient to be commissioning at the shipyard running all the cables, Testing equipment and locating any faults and rectifying before the vessel is delivered to the owner. Completing installations at the shipyard also ensures the new vessel does not have to be pulled apart to have products installed by tradesman that are not familiar with the vessel and cable runs. New owners are always very excited to take delivery of their new vessel and would prefer to start sea trailing almost strait away they do not want to be waiting for long periods of time after delivery to be able to use their vessel with many different tradesman working all through the boat.

Q2: What are the key equipment and standout features of this yacht?

A2: -Top of the line Furuno electronics including XL displays, Open array radar, Autopilot, AIS, Dual VHF, Instrument displays, Satellite compass, Multiple GPS antenna, Fish finder, Depth and speed transducers, Weather station, Remote controllers, Pan and tilt thermal/daylight mast camera, Engine room and cockpit cameras.

– Maretron systems including Displays, Digital switching modules for lighting control and dimming, Tank sensors, Door sensors, Smoke/Heat alarms, Bilge alarms, Fuel flow monitoring from day tank, Engine data integration, Mconnect for remote monitoring and system modes, Multiple Shore power and generator AC input monitoring

– Large Victron lithium systems with quattro inverter/chargers, Solar system, linked with ethernet and canbus to Furuno and Maretron networks with AC/DC voltage and current monitoring

In the coming months, the Selene 6050 will set sail across the ocean to begin its life in Seattle, USA, with future explorations planned along the scenic waters leading to the Las Vegas. Crafted with care and built for adventure, this classic yacht is poised to bring endless memorable moments and extraordinary maritime experiences to its owners.
