We design and build our yachts, in our factory from the first drum of resin and roll of cloth to the upholstery of the salon! We do not subcontract the work to a third-party “partner shipyard” like many other brands. We have built over 450 yachts to date. Knowing that a Selene Yacht owner often has to be both the captain and engineer of the vessel, we have invested a lot of time in the design of our engine rooms, which are regarded in the industry as best in their class with good access, plenty of room to work around the systems, with ease of maintenance and service in mind. Our yachts maintain their value because of the quality of construction and materials used. Twenty years after launching, the interior of a Selene Yacht will look as good as new.

With a lower second cockpit designed to sport a fishing chair with a direct access to the crew quarter and transom compartment, the Selene 98 is designed precisely for that: offshore fishing without compromising any of the classic Selene luxuries and comfort. Based on our Selene 92 which was listed in 2017 by Southern Boating as one of the «Top Ten Long-Range Cruisers», our new 98 carries more than 6,000 gallons (23,000 liters) of fuel giving enough range to reach the Marquesas from the West Coast of the United States or to reach the Pacific Ocean remote islands! The Selene 98 Ocean Explorer has four staterooms, three guest cabins and a full-beam owner’s cabin, a laundry room and a crew’s quarters with two cabins and a mess area. The upper bridge equipped with a powerful hydraulic crane is large and safe enough for a fast tender like a Boston Whaler or a Grady White and a RIB!

The Selene Shipyard

Selene Yachts in Zhuhai is one of the best equipped and largest shipyards building FRP yachts in the world. The Zhuhai shipyard has the capacity to build up to a hundred yachts per year! The shipyard includes two workshops, each approximately 150,000 square feet and a warehouse of 32,000 square feet. Workshop B is equipped with four cranes capable of lifting 100 tons, and is the biggest single production shop in Asia. It can accommodate 36 sets of molds or boats under construction. Selene People

There are close to 500 Selene people and they are responsible for design, interior decoration, upholstery, carpentry, fiberglass tooling, painting, stainless-steel fabrication, procurement, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, electronics from a simple chart plotter to a super-yacht glass bridge… With several designers, engineers, naval architects and production line managers, the Selene people can graciously and enthusiastically take up the challenges of any yacht from 36 to 92 feet, and more. A safe passage maker

It is altogether a safe and comfortable passage maker and a wonderful live-aboard vessel extremely popular in the mariners’ community. We have already built 19 Classic Explorer 62! It says it all… Some of them are also used for charter.

Most owner choose the single-engine configuration which offers an ultimate protection of the propeller, but a twin-engine version is also available. The luxurious and practical layout consists of a superb three stateroom arrangement with crew quarters aft, all with en suite heads.

The galley can be up in the pilothouse or down in the salon with a dining table for six. The very spacious flybridge, with U-shaped settee, table, sink and a BBQ makes a wonderful place to entertain.  The yacht deck allows for a 14′ tender with a powerful hydraulic crane.

When we build a Selene, we always take into account our customer’s lifestyle and taste. This is why all Selene yachts are different. Selene yachts are not production boats, but semi-custom, handcrafted, solid vessels that are available to you at comparable production boat pricing.

Handcrafted and reliable vessels

The differences include stronger hulls, watertight bulkheads and doors, full skeg protected propeller and rudder, backup bilge pumps, large scuppers, continuous duty engines, and automatic engine room fire extinguisher systems.

The design incorporates the fuel efficiency of a full-displacement hull. A full-displacement hull is designed to remain fully in the water throughout its entire range of speed. This requires a fraction of the horsepower that semi-displacement or planing hull requires to attain optimum speed. A full-displacement hull will be capable of maintaining speeds in the 7- to l2-knot range while burning a minimum of fuel.

 A New Concept

The lower levels of the Selene 62 Ocean Explorer can be very similar to the general arrangement of the Classic Explorer 62 but the  helm section on the main deck may also be turned into a very elegant dining room looking forward with a large open-plan galley, allowing for a much larger saloon with a wide door opening to the cockpit and even a private study! 

As usual the interior layout and decoration may be adjusted to the owner’s lifestyle and needs. Customization is one of the hallmarks of Selene yachts! All Selene yachts are different and our flexibility serves well the purpose of owners who, in this changing world, intend to live and work from their floating home…

Perfectly equipped for world voyages

The owner had a single John Deere 230 HP engine installed, with a Yanmar 57 HP wing engine, Sidepower electric bow & stern thrusters, Trac underway stabilizers, Webasto reverse cycle air conditioning system, a Steelhead ES1000 davit and Onan 13.5 kW generator. This yacht is ready for ocean passages and will know no limits!

The standard Selene 49 Classic Explorer features the Deep-Hull™ design and Cruiser Stern™ which improves headroom in the engine room and lazarette and makes the hull highly efficient. The yacht has a very traditional “salty” look! 

The salon is luxuriously finished in varnished teak. The two or three-stateroom accommodations down below are spacious, due to the full-hull sections forward. The master stateroom has a queen-size island berth with teak and holly steps on both sides, plus two large cedar-lined hanging lockers.

Ocean ready!

The Selene 49 is an excellent long-range cruising yacht. As the flagship of the smaller Selenes, the Selene 49 boasts a level of luxury normally only found on its larger sisters in the range, but all in an affordable package that’s easy to handle as a couple.
